A BETTER NEXT CHAPTER

Start with an everyday thing.

LESS GUESSWORK, MORE DOING

Good intentions.
Meet your next step.

You don’t need to have it all figured out.
Just start with one thing.

01

Tell us what you have

Search for an item or try a photo. You confirm what it is and its condition.

02

Find the right route

Explore reuse ideas and local collection options, with the details that matter.

03

Make it happen

Save a checklist, take the next step, and keep a record of what you’ve done.

Starting local. Built to grow. Our first collection of resources covers Aurora, Naperville and the Fox Valley, Illinois. Outside the area? Explore ideas, then check your own local rules.

START WITH A PHOTO

What’s in your hands?

Try a clear photo of a laptop, phone, book, bottle or furniture. The model suggests a category; you confirm it.

Your photo stays in this browser and is never sent to a server. First use downloads an object-detection model. It cannot determine materials, condition or safety.

MEET E-CONNECT

A little help doing good.

E-COnnect helps you decide what to do with everyday items, then connects that decision to a practical next step.

Honest guidance

This is a community sustainability prototype. Recommendations use a curated rule-based catalog; photo suggestions use TensorFlow.js and COCO-SSD. A photo does not prove an item is recyclable or safe.

Your privacy

Photos are processed in your browser, held only in memory, and cleared when you close the photo panel. Saved plans and your selected community stay in this browser’s local storage. No accounts, advertising or analytics are used. GitHub hosts the site; Google Fonts supplies the typefaces. jsDelivr and Google host model files and receive ordinary network requests when photo identification loads.

What we count

Completed actions are self-reported. We do not claim measured waste diversion or invent carbon savings. Lists do not reserve a pickup or contact a facility.
